Alex Dietrich is a German electronic music producer and recording artist associated primarily with French house, French Touch-inspired electronic music, ambient electronica and downtempo. He began releasing music independently in 2026 and is signed to Dimitrium Records, an independent record label based in Požarevac, Serbia.
Dietrich’s music is characterized by melodic electronic arrangements, house-influenced rhythms and the frequent use of atmospheric and environmental recordings. His work commonly combines conventional electronic production with sounds including rain, thunder, birdsong, vinyl noise and spoken or whispered vocal recordings.
He is best known for his debut album Unendlich (2026), recorded in collaboration with Nala the Cat, who is credited as a co-producer despite having no documented knowledge of music production.
Career
2026–present: Unendlich
Dietrich began work on his debut studio album, Unendlich, in 2026. The project developed from experiments with French house and French Touch production before gradually incorporating elements of deep house, ambient music, downtempo and other forms of electronic music.
The album’s title track, “Unendlich”, was developed as an atmospheric French house composition built around a dance-oriented rhythm and melodic electronic arrangement. It was followed by “Anderswo”, a more club-oriented house track emphasizing rhythm and momentum.
The third track, “Flüstern”, represented a departure from the faster house-oriented material. Recorded at 95 BPM, it combines plucked melodies, chords, pads, strings and whispered German vocals with environmental ambience. The recording concludes with birdsong.
Its ending connects directly with “Schweben”, which begins with birdsong accompanied by distant thunder. The track uses acoustic percussion and a low-register piano arpeggio in place of a conventional electronic bass part. Thunder returns near the conclusion of the recording, although no subsequent meteorological developments have yet been documented.
By September 2026, Unendlich consisted of four tracks with a total running time of approximately 11 minutes and 39 seconds.
Musical style
Dietrich’s work is primarily rooted in electronic music and draws significant influence from French Touch, particularly the melodic and atmospheric side of the genre. House music forms the rhythmic basis of much of his early material, although his compositions increasingly incorporate ambient, downtempo and cinematic elements.
The four compositions on Unendlich vary considerably in tempo and arrangement. “Unendlich” and “Anderswo” are predominantly house-oriented, while “Flüstern” and “Schweben” place greater emphasis on atmosphere and slower musical development.
Dietrich has described his own genre with some uncertainty as French Touch, while acknowledging that several compositions depart substantially from the conventions of the genre.
His production process makes extensive use of software instruments and relatively limited production equipment. Much of his early work was produced using stock instruments and effects in FL Studio, alongside KSHMR drum samples and Kickstart 2.
Unlike many sample-based French house productions, much of Dietrich’s early work consists of original compositions.
Dimitrium Records
In 2026, Dietrich signed with Dimitrium Records, becoming one of the label’s earliest known recording artists.
At the time of signing, Dietrich had little established commercial presence and no significant catalogue of commercially released music. The decision was therefore regarded internally as an unusually strong commitment to an unproven artist.
The signing was facilitated by Aleksa Dimitrijević, the founder of Dimitrium Records. Dimitrijević’s role is that of the label’s founder; Dietrich is the recording artist and producer of Unendlich.
The exact nature of the professional relationship between Dimitrijević and Dietrich has never been formally clarified by either party.
The signing was later described within Dimitrium Records’ own historical documentation as a key moment in the decline of the label.
Association with Nala the cat
Dietrich frequently collaborates with Nala, a domestic cat credited on Unendlich as Nala the Cat.
Nala is listed as a co-producer on the album and appears prominently in artwork associated with the project. Her exact contributions to the recordings are unclear. Contemporary accounts primarily document her presence near computers, musical equipment and Dietrich during production.
Her only known public statement regarding Unendlich consists of the word “Meow.”
The statement was subsequently used by Dietrich as a testimonial for the album.

Influences
Dietrich has cited Daft Punk as his principal musical influence. Their influence is particularly evident in his interest in French house, repetition, filtered electronic textures, atmospheric composition and the treatment of electronic albums as cohesive works rather than collections of unrelated singles.
His slower material has additionally drawn comparisons within Dimitrium publications to the more atmospheric portions of Daft Punk’s catalogue and to the cinematic electronic music of Tron: Legacy.
There is no known professional relationship between Dietrich and Daft Punk.
